Ramsey Jay Prince, the authority on everything from fashion to interior
design to party planning. Once you meet Ramsey, you'll never forget his
name, face or 7 foot stature (and that’s without heels). A native of
Baltimore, Ramsey has been living in Chicago for the past 5 years doing
what he loves best-Interior + Furniture design, Merchandising and
Display, Exquisite Florals and Home Accessories, and One of a kind
Couture Costumes and Fashions. With more than 20 years of experience in
the design world, Ramsey has a diverse and impressive background that’s
almost as unique as he is. With a keen sense of style that makes even
Anna Wintour envious, Ramsey won't hesitate to tell you the truth when
it comes to fashion.

Get To Know Your Guru
Where do you like to shop?
Cram in Lakeview. It's a great neighborhood boutique with a mix of clothes and accessories. I swear by Brooks Brothers' French Cuff button down shirts. They fit me perfectly and allow me to add a bit of flash with my collection of cufflinks. Of course, I shop the Modern Vintage Chicago Market for fantastic accessories including belt buckles, cufflinks, messenger bags and ties.
What is your go to outfit?
Dark Slim fit Jeans, great Loafers, button down and a blazer.
What fashion trend are you loving and hating now?
Skinny Jeans (but they're not for everyone )
Where do you go for cocktails?
The Pump Room at the new Public Hotel has delicious drinks and fabulous decor. The roof at Zed 451 is a great hangout in the summer months. I also like Kit Kat they have the best martini list in town.
What is your favorite lunch spot?
Kinzie Chophouse has great food and is only steps from my office.
What's on your ipod?
Rihanna's new single-We Found Love, Rascal Flats, and Cole Porter. Yes, it's all over the place!
What cultural activities do you partake in while in Chicago?
I want to see The Book of Mormon when it comes to Broadway in Chicago.
Previous Careers?
Antiquities Buyer, Art Director for an Event company, and Fashion Designer.
What is your best style advice?
Dress for your body and your attitude, not necessarily your age. You should dress how you feel that day and if you don't feel great, make yourself look great, and it will make you feel better.
What to Expect From Your Guru
- Ramsey will create 5 distinct looks including downtown chic, glamorous evening, etc (need to confirm with Ramsey) on mannequins using items from the Modern Vintage vendors.
- A team of "Style Spies" will be out and about all weekend seeking out the best-dressed shoppers. They'll be armed with cameras, so come dressed to impress and ready to be discovered! Best-dressed attendees will win “Market Bucks” to spend at the November Holiday Show.
- With so many amazing vintage finds at the Market, it’s hard to choose. Look for items with blue ribbons marking Ramsey’s fave picks.
